The central concept of the proposed research center is to use the specialist knowledge of experts through externalization and to integrate this explicit knowledge into the data analysis process for industrial production.

The overarching objective off our research is the development of knowledge-based visual data analysis methods to effectively gain insights from industrial production data, thereby improving and optimizing manufacturing processes, their planning, and product quality. In this way, we strive to counteract the loss of expertise in the industry caused by retirement waves and outbound migration and to establish new ways of staff education and training that will help to consolidate and retain expert knowledge.
